New Planets, Nerd Alerts, and 14 Free Space Posters (Courtesy Of NASA)
I went online yesterday to catch up with the daily news and it was the same old things: politics, death, and natural disasters. Some days those 3 things bother me more than normal and yesterday was one of those days. I didn’t feel like reading about celebrities or the latest weight loss secrets either so I decided to head to the Science section of the website. That doesn’t scream nerd or anything now does it?! LOL Anyway, did you know that astronomers recently discovered an Earth-like planet? Well, they did and it has been named Proxima b. After learning all about Proxima b, I got caught up in learning all about another recent discovery— Planet Nine (a.k.a. Planet X). Planet X is way out there in BFE but it’s pretty cool to think how many stars & planets are still undiscovered.
If you’re a Trekkie, you’ll agree that these words from Captain Kirk are pretty much the holy grail:
Space, the final frontier. …to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.
Although I had the urge to go watch old Star Trek episodes after my read, I headed over to the NASA website instead (nerd alert #2). That was when I stumbled upon these glorious posters.
Meet the JPL Visions of the Future Posters:
Oh my goodness! I’m totally fangirling over the colors and graphics in these space posters! They’d look great in
my room a boy’s room, don’t you think?
Each poster was lovingly made by a creative team at the JPL (Jet Propulsion Laboratory) at NASA. You can read more about the creative process on the NASA website. If their style looks familiar, that’s because they were inspired by the WPA posters of the 1930’s and 40’s.
Because they’re cool like that, NASA has made each poster available to download for FREE!
But guess what? You’ve got options.
- If you’d like to download the poster size (20 x 30) for each image, head directly to the website.
- If you’d like all 14 posters in smaller 8 x 10 versions, you can download the ZIP FILE HERE:
