Fourth Annual Fall In Virginia Photos
Due to the unusually warm weather we had in September and October, Fall colors were a bit erratic this year. Temperature, light, and water supply have a significant influence on the degree and duration of Fall color and you could see this at work on the trees here in Richmond. There were trees whose leaves took longer to change hues and some tree leaves didn’t change at all.
There’s a gorgeous maple tree in my back yard and it went from having green, lush leaves to brown, wilted leaves overnight. As a result of the warmer temperatures, the colors were not as varied and as plentiful compared to seasons past. Luckily I came across a few areas where the glory of Fall was on full display but to find it, I had to go for a walk in the woods.
With my coffee in one hand and my cane in the other, I strolled through the woods enjoying the quiet, the solitude, and the scent of freshly fallen leaves. If you’ve never smelled Fall leaves before, you are missing out. It’s a combination of pine, maple, oak, and birch all rolled into one.
With all of the loud noise that has occurred since the presidential election, it was nice to get away from the television, cell phone, radio, and the news. Nature has always been soothing to my soul and it was just the balm I needed. I’d love to own a cabin in the woods but I’ve seen way too many horror movies. 😉
Let’s take a quiet walk together, shall we?
Nature is absolutely stunning, isn’t it?! I hope you’ve enjoyed your virtual walk with me. If you’d like to see last year’s Fall photos, you can find them here. Also, 2014 Fall photos and 2013 photos. If you look back, I think you’ll see that my photography has improved through the years also. Yay for practice and quiet walks in the woods.
