What Is Baroque Style? The Answer + Four Free Vintage Baroque Images

It’s been awhile since I’ve shared free vintage images with you so today, I’d like to present these gorgeous Baroque style images. According to Encyclopaedia Britanica:

The work that distinguishes the Baroque period is stylistically complex, even contradictory. In general, however, the desire to evoke emotional states by appealing to the senses, often in dramatic ways, underlies its manifestations. Some of the qualities most frequently associated with the Baroque are grandeur, sensuous richness, drama, vitality, movement, tension, emotional exuberance, and a tendency to blur distinctions between the various arts.

Famous painters from the Baroque period include Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Poussin. Famous sculptors include Bernini who is widely known for his sculpture The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa. One of my favorite composers, Antonio Vivaldi, created Four Seasons during the Baroque period. The Piano Guys {musical group} created a version of Vivaldi’s “Winter” for the popular Disney movie Frozen. They even throw a bit of “Let It Go” into the piece. It’s actually a nice piece of music. Listen for yourself:

Now that you’ve learned a bit about Baroque history, let’s get to the images {you didn’t know I was going to give you a history lesson did you?! ;)}.

This first piece is absolutely gorgeous. It’s a true vintage image with a touch of blue.
