Bee Decor and Bee Skeps
Have you ever noticed that bees and birds seem to be a staple in the home of vintage farmhouse lovers everywhere? I mean, there’s chicken and rooster pillows all over Pinterest.
There’s even dragonflies, butterflies and bees.
But filling up your home with farmhouse goods can quickly get expensive.
For example, I discovered these bee skeps that are selling for over seventy dollars.
Now don’t get me wrong, if I wasn’t crafty, I might buy them if I really, really, really wanted them.
But, why fork out that kind of cash when I can make them for a lot less?
And what I make these bee skeps from might surprise you (especially since the whole project cost me around $5.00).
Yep. Five dollars.
Did I happen to mention that I love bee decor but I blow up like a balloon if stung by one? The more you know. =)
Let’s watch the bee decor video to see how the bee skeps are made:
Were you surprised??
I’m telling you, I’ve got all kinds of craft projects planned for these guys!
Materials I Used
- four packages of nautical rope
- safety cones
- empty glass jar with lid (washed and cleaned of course 😉 )
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- black Sharpie marker
- highly recommend safety glasses|goggles
- twine (used on second bee skep around fake bee entry)
Not ready to make this yet? Pin it for future reference!
Feeling inspired by those safety cones now? See what else I made from them.
