Many people with multiple sclerosis are heat sensitive. I am one of those people which is why I no longer live in the hot and humid state of Florida. MS research has proven that heat and humidity often aggravate common MS symptoms. Keeping the body cool can help lessen the negative effects of heat and humidity on a person with MS.
The Multiple Sclerosis Association of America has a Cooling Equipment Distribution Program that will send you:
• A Cooling Kit which includes a vest worn under clothing with a variety of accessories for the neck, wrists and ankles; or
• A Standard Cooling Vest which is worn over clothing.
If you’d like to apply for the cooling program, the application can be found on MSAA’s website.
