When I realized that it’d been several years since we shared a patriotic craft around here, I knew I had to change that.
Especially after the hardships of 2020.
So this year? I’m decorating and celebrating all the things.
And I’m starting with the 4th of July. ?
Decorating for the 4th of July is lots of fun because a) red, white, and blue colors brighten up any room b) fireworks and barbecue (enough said 😉 ) & c) it gives us an opportunity to reflect on how blessed we are to live in the good old USA.
So, with a few items from the craft and dollar store, and about thirty minutes of your time, you can have your very own patriotic decor.
PATRIOTIC WOOD CRAFTS: USA HOUSES

✖️Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
✖️Star Punch
✖️Paintbrush
✖️Chipboard or Corrugated Cardboard – from the recycle bin
✖️Ruler

Instructions
STEP ONE
Gather all supplies. Basecoat all four wooden house shapes with white acrylic craft paint.
Paint one house red, and one house blue, set aside to dry. Apply a second coat, if necessary.
STEP TWO
Place the “S” and “A” white embroidered letters on a scrap piece of paper. Paint the “S” embroidered letter with blue acrylic craft paint, and the “A” embroidered letter with blue acrylic craft paint. Set aside to dry.
STEP THREE
Wrap each of the houses with natural jute twine three to four times, secure with a knot, and trim the ends.
Punch a star from silver glitter cardstock and attach to knot with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Note: If you don’t have a star punch, you can draw one on the back of the cardstock and then cut it out.
STEP FOUR
Once the acrylic craft paint is dry, peel liner paper from the back of the embroidered letters spelling USA and apply one letter to each of the wooden houses.
STEP FIVE
To create a roof, measure the width and the pitch of the wooden houses, then cut three chipboard rectangles 3/4″ by 5″. Cover each piece with the HVAC foil tape folding over all edges.
Tip: You can substitute Duck brand tape (color: silver) for the HVAC foil tape.
STEP SIX
Carefully bend each roof piece at the halfway mark and attach it to the top of the wooden houses with a glue gun and glue sticks.
How cute would these look on a tiered tray?
